A strategic Project for the Atlantic Area: NEA 2

Building on the success of NEA, the members of the network have devised a strategic trans-national scheme.

NEA 2 aims to develop a cutting-edge water-sports sector within the Atlantic Area, which differs from what is done in this domain in the international arena by its exemplary implementation, by delivering:

• economic innovation and performance,

• protection and development of the environment,

• Quality of life and social cohesion.

Whilst the first project had confined its objectives to the coordinated development of water-sports tourism activities in the Atlantic Area, NEA 2 aims to develop trans-national cooperation based on sustainable development of every aspect of the water-sports sector:

• Supervised and free activities,

• Marinas,

• Water-sports industry, commerce and services.

NEA 2 is run by 23 partners representing

5 AA countries,

9 regions,

7 counties,

5 towns or cities.

NEA 2 will run from January 2009 to December 2011, within the framework of Interreg IV B Atlantic Area.

The Priority of NEA 2 is 1: “To Promote Trans-national Entrepreneurial and Innovation Networks”.

The Objective is 1 – 3 “To stimulate economic redevelopment and diversification through developing the endogenous regional potential.
