North Devon

North Devon – One of the finest protected landscapes in the UK

The majority of the coastline and unique inland areas have been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the criteria including; “having precious landscapes whose character and natural beauty are so outstanding that it is in the nations interest to protect them.”

A first class accolade for North Devon and Exmoor has been the recognition from the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) of a Biosphere Reserve, focussing on conservation and sustainable development for future generations.

The North Devon water offers a wide choice of watersports activities; surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, wakeboarding, waterskiing, Gig racing, diving or coasteering. The number of people visiting the area for watersports activities is growing steadily, adding value to the North Devon economy and therefore it is imperative that this economic sector should be managed in the context of preserving the environment.
